ensiklopedya man ni sa mga Bisayang Sugboanon, mao wa nay debatehon pa. Mura'g sa Tinagalog ra man gikan ang Tsino nga termino (giakn Kinatsila). Kaso, sa wa pa nangabot ang mga Katsila, naa nay mga Intsek sa Pilipinas dili Tsino ang tawag nila. Usa pa, usa sa mga rules sa cebwiki mao ang paggamit sa naunang ngalan para sa historical continuity. Jordz 06:20, 14 Hulyo 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry I don't speak Cebuano well. I'm from waray-waray wikipedia which is more related to Cebuano wikipedia than Tagalog wikipedia. We also often use "Intsik" than "Tsino" in waray. I posted the comment just in case some of you would be interested to join the discussion. I don't think Tsino is only a tagalog term, I recall the creator of your article ceb:Inintsek provided "Tsinino" as an alternative; and also article ceb:Intsik lists "Tsino" as an alternative. Which may mean Tsino has already entered your language just like the "en cik" (pronounced as en-chik), malayan word meaning "venerable uncle" did. There may or may not be cultural sensitivity issues involving the usage of the term "Intsik" which may or may not affect all Philippine language-based wikipedia including yours. I understand that the usage of the term "Intsik" is more popular and traditional than "Tsino" in almost every Philippine languages, but few are aware that the addressee, the subject or the "Intsik" themselves find the word degrading for them. (Although not all, I am a Filipino Chinese and it does not affect me) Just like any other Philippine language-based wikipedia, we probably share the same pros and cons, concerns and issues regarding this topic. In the end, it is up to you cebuano wikipedia contributors who will decide what is best for cebuano wikipedia. It is up to you whether to retain the convention or make exception to the rule. Sorry for not writing in cebuano. Regards. :-) --JinJian 11:01, 14 Hulyo 2009 (UTC)[reply]
