DeskripsyonAcreotrichus sp.jpg
English: The Gastrolobium flowers were being visited by native bees and these flies which feed on nectar from the base of the flower. They have to stand with bottoms in the air, heads down to reach the nectar.
This is a male fly possibly different to the flies photographed on the flowers although they were visiting the flowers too. But they were sitting on and by the road showing off their fluffy sided abdomens. Notice their eyes are touching.
They are very similar to the flies we photographed early August but have different wing markings. These have very plain wings. There has been a distinct break between the two flies flying.
