Abra River

Maayong adlaw! Kindly check and fix the following, as it appears all of the pages refer to the same river (w:en:Abra River/w:tl:Ilog Abra):

1. Abra River
2. Abra River (suba sa Pilipinas, Rehiyon sa Ilocos) - claimed coordinates are 17.50501°N 120.38843°E
3. Abra River (suba sa Pilipinas, Administratibong Rehiyon sa Cordillera) - claimed coordinates are 16.8379°N 120.74°E

The first one is a supposed disambiguation page. Upon checking the coordinates, the 2nd one refers to the mouth of Abra River while the 3rd one refers to the uplands where the same river originates. Both appear to have been obtained from GeoNames by the Lsjbot.

I would suggest turning the disambiguation page into the actual article of the river and redirecting all of the two member articles to the main article, since all of the two refer to the same Abra River.

One possible solution to raise CebWiki article depth

Hello. Deriving from my suggestion in a Facebook post of mine.

I've thinking of a possible Notability standards about foreign geographic features, similar to w:en:WP:NGEO. This should be for articles of non-Philippine geographic features that may not be relevant to readers and users of Cebuano Wikipedia, such as Vis/Min peoples.

meta:List of Wikipedias (as of this post) rates the article depth of CebWiki at 2 (seems a decline from 2 point something the last time I visited the metawiki metrics on December 26, 2025). As w:en:Cebuano Wikipedia claims, most of the articles are about biology and geography. However, biology articles may be important for cebWiki readers and VisMin peeps.

I used Espesyal:Bisan-unsa to read some random articles. Some of them indeed are not relevant for VisMin peoples as well as readers/users of Cebuano Wikipedia. These articles are:

• Roberts Park (parke sa Tinipong Bansa, Iowa, Allamakee County) - it's not covered on English Wikipedia (the Wikipedia relevant to the country of the subject/topic). I assume it's just a tiny, insignificant park with no notable events.
• Naculué (suba sa Província de Zambézia, lat -16,94, long 37,83) - no equivalents in English or Portuguese Wikipedias (Portuguese being Mozambique's main language) Fishbrain.com claims it is just a stream
• Kommu Konda - apparently a 469-meter mountain in India, but no equivalents in English Wikipedia or in Wikipedias of Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Tamil, or other South Asian languages. This implies it's an insignificant mountain, or possibly the height is "miscalculated".
• Shooter Hill - despite being a 755-meter hill in Saskatchewan, Canada, there is no equivalent in either English or French Wikipedias. This is likely a regular hill with no significant events or contribution to Saskatchewan.
• Rock House Spring (tubud sa Tinipong Bansa, Arizona, Gila County) - no equivalent in English Wikipedia, the most-used wiki of Americans (of the country where this hot spring is located).
• Bois de Candale - allegedly a forest somewhere in France, but w:fr:Bois de Candale returns no entry in French Wikipedia.

It's highly probable that the inclusion of these articles is based on GeoNames or other online portals on coordinates of all places around the world, big and small and tiny ones. Thus, even duplicates or unfamous features have been included. A good way to raise cebWiki quality is to implement a notability guideline for geographic features.

Assume that all Philippine geographic features are automatically "notable", so all will stay. Here are some suggestions from me, based on the random articles that I accessed and read:

• Any article on non-Philippine park must be deleted or redirected unless notability is demonstrated by the availability of the subject in other Wikipedia edition based on the language of the subject's country (like English Wikipedia for US/Canadian/Australian/British parks, Mandarin Wikipedia for Chinese parks, Japanese Wikipedia for Japanese parks, German Wikipedia for German parks, Greek Wikipedia for Greek parks and so on).
• Any article on non-Philippine mountain or hill must satisfy at least one:

- availability in other Wikipedia edition based on the language of the subject's country; or

- the mountain with no other Wikipedia equivalent must have a height of at least 10,000 meters, or the hill with the same Wikipedia situation must have a height of at least 5,000 meters.

• Any article on non-Philippine waterway must satisfy at least one:

- availability in other Wikipedia edition based on the language of the subject's country; or

- the river or stream with no other Wikipedia equivalent must either have a substantial length or have greatly contributed to the history, economy, or culture of that country (not just the particular region of that country).

The CebWiki community is free to change or customize these suggestions, as well as introduce more notability standards for foreign geographic features.

Hopefully the article depth for cebWiki will be improved, at least raised to 4 or 5 (almost on par with Waray Wikipedia) or even 7 or 8. JWilz12345 (sulti|mga kontribusyon) 10:38, 17 Enero 2026 (UTC)

Hello. Another possible suggestion is that notability must be based on the relevance of sources used in the article. For instance, geographical or place name articles must not rely on GeoNames database alone. In the case of Roberts Park (parke sa Tinipong Bansa, Iowa, Allamakee County), notability must be established by sources relevant to the history and economic/cultural/societal significance of the park in connection to the community or the Iowan county where it is situated. Reliance on NASA and NOAA as the only sources might be insufficient, since every place in the world (including insignificant ones) are always covered by NASA for meteorological purposes. The French commune of Rieux-Volvestre has two articles: Rieux-Volvestre and Rieux-Volvestre (munisipyo sa Pransiya) (the latter of which appears to have been created automatically with a template). Could they be merged?
