Why redirect[usba ang wikitext]

The original article was about a village in Mindanao called Cebuano. It can be seen on a map here. Why should that article be redirected to Cebu City? Lsj (talk) 10:20, 26 Nobiyembre 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I thought lungsod in Cebuano language means town or municipality. Maybe it is the article name that needed change instead? Anyway, I already cancelled the redirect. Thanks for the notice. :) JinJian (talk) 12:02, 26 Nobiyembre 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, lungsod means something like town, as I understand it. I have been using it as a generic term for all kinds of human settlements (cf en:Human settlement), where GeoNames uses the feature code P.PPL (see list of codes here). I think it is useful here to keep in mind the difference between the actual settlement (an aggregation of houses) and the administrative entity (a local government area). These are different kinds of things, even though they may coincide in practice in some places. Lsj (talk) 12:45, 26 Nobiyembre 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So would it be more appropriate if we use "Cebuano (kabayan)" as the title for this article? JinJian (talk) 03:41, 27 Nobiyembre 2017 (UTC)[reply]
