English: In 1174 Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa built the Kaiserpfalz around which the town developed. From the building is now only a ruin left. Hence the Imperial eagle as the main charge of the arms. The eagle can alos be seen on the seal of the town from the 13th century. The small shield is the arms of the State of Cologne , to which the town belonged from 1424-1762.
Deutsch: Blasonierung: In Gold ein doppelköpfiger rotbezungter schwarzer Adler, belegt mit einem Brustschild, darin ein schwarzes Kreuz auf silbernem Grund.
Beschreibung: Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa baute 1174 die Kaiserpfalz in Kaiserswerth, worum sich die Stadt entwickelte. Heute steht nur noch eine Ruine der ehemaligen Zollfestung. Aus diesem Grunde findet man den Reichsadler als Hauptbestandteil im Wappen. Der Adler ist bereits seit dem 13. Jahrhundert auf dem Siegel der ehemaligen Stadt zu sehen. Das Brustschild stellt das kurkölnische Kreuz des Kurfürstentums Köln dar, zu dem die Stadt von 1424-1762 gehörte. |
