  • Significance: It is significant as the main controlling works for the Lake Coeur D'Alene, the natural impoundment for the entire Spokane River hydroelectric system. The North Channel dam is an L-shaped, concrete gravity flow dam. The structure's crest measures approximately 430' in length and ca. is 31' high. The largest section of the dam features a 100' rolling sector gate, with a series of 8 tainter gates located along the wing portion of the dam.
