Invasive in Rhine drainage in Germany and the Netherlands, reaching upriver (southwar) to Karlsruhe. This invasive population in the Rhine is an intermediate between Cottus perifretum Cottus rhenanus and forms a distinct genetic group across its whole expansion range.".
